When Daniel Carvajal’s grandmother and mother fled Cuba for the United States in the 1980s, they brought with them generations of family jewelry-making tradition. Initially selling their wares out of a home garage, Liredia and Zenaida couldn’t imagine that their dedication to quality and craftsmanship was laying the foundations for a family-run operation that is now in its third generation: Liry’s  Jewelry.

Now, more than 30 years later, Liry’s has grown exponentially since those humble beginnings, first moving to a small shop on Tampa’s Armenia Ave and then to a bigger space on Hanley Road. Despite now being considered by many a Florida institution, the same values that allowed the business to move out of that small garage continue to be the north star guiding everything from design to production.

“Impeccable quality and craftsmanship have always been the most important philosophy for our family, ” says Daniel, who took the business’ reins back in 2014 and expanded it to international markets. “My grandma always said that we should only offer pieces that last a lifetime.”

This commitment to creating heirloom-quality accessories was the key to Liry’s unmatched reputation among competitors. This, in turn, allowed the business to remain completely family-owned and operated, giving place to a tradition that is reflected by every piece they offer.

When Daniel assumed daily management almost 10 years ago, he delved into the company’s Cuban roots by launching Liry’s now-iconic handmade Miami Cuban link chains and bracelets in gold and sterling silver. Demand quickly erupted, driven by the unique style of the latest additions and Daniel’s decision to launch an official website and store that same year.

Daniel also understood the value of fusing old-world techniques with innovative technologies, different production methods, and global partnerships. As such, he traveled to Italy’s jewelry epicenter in 2018 to meet with master artisans who could implement his family’s techniques to create a superior product. As a result, all chains and bracelets offered by Liry’s from then on became Italian-made pieces with one exception: the Miami Cuban links.

“While Italians remain the leaders in quality and production for chains and bracelets, making them the perfect partners to ensure the quality of our products, our Miami Cuban links require a different approach,” explains Daniel. “This is why we decided to continue to produce our handmade Miami Cuban links right here in our store, where we have full control over their handmade production from start to finish.”

This multi-origin approach has made it easier for Liry’s to offer the unparalleled breadth of styles, metal purities, and price points it is known for today. The catalog has now expanded to over 500 unique rings, pendants, chains, and bracelets in genuine 10kt, 14kt, and 18kt gold and 925 sterling silver, all of them fully customizable.

“We do not sell anything mass-produced or fake, including anything that is gold fill or stainless steel dipped in gold, ” adds Daniel. “If you purchase a 14kt gold chain, bracelet, ring, earring, pendant, anklet, etc, it will be genuine 14kt.”

To stand behind its products, all of Liry’s genuine gold and silver pieces come with a one-year warranty meant to build trust with its customers. This assurance is also responsible for Liry’s big presence in the international markets, as it allows global customers to acquire their favorite jewelry with ease of mind.

By fusing old-school craft with cutting-edge technologies, Liry’s has unlocked the best of both worlds for those seeking to combine timeless artistry with modern reliability. Now with a third-generation custodian at the helm, the foundations for another 30 years of excellence are already in place.
