The much-talked-about website OnlyFans is currently accessible across the United Arab Emirates, according to individual reports.
The website, on which individual users can post photos and videos on a monthly subscription basis, has been blocked in the UAE since its inception.
On both of the UAE’s internet service providers, Du and Etisalat, the website is currently loading while on Wi-Fi. The website is not working on cellular data, according to reports.
Previously, OnlyFans users have been limited to other countries across the world, as the website has remained restricted across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the wider Gulf.
Not everyone in the UAE believes that this is a permanent phenomenon, of course.
“I’m feeling this was an April fools prank which got believed.” said Reddit user Jay6853.
Others have said the website is inaccessible for them.
This isn’t the only website that is accessible as of today. Reports have also come in that Al Jazeera is now accessible, though this is also available across cellular data. Read more here.
What is OnlyFans?
the company was founded seven years ago in London England by Tim Stokely, a retired Barclay’s investment banker.
“Founded in 2016, by British entrepreneur Tim Stokely OnlyFans has since become one of the leading global social platforms. Tim’s vision was to develop a site where creators could monetize their content free of advertisers. He and his technical team brought this vision to life. Since then OnlyFans has grown to become part of the cultural zeitgeist accepting creators from all genres,” says the brand’s official website in the company bio.

“The onset of 2020 brought forth a significant rise in creator and fan growth. Beyonce name-dropped OnlyFans on the “Savage Remix” cementing its importance as a top social platform. OnlyFans continues to grow internationally and be a welcoming home for creators and their fans,” the official company bio continues.
In 2021, the company had a revenue of $900 million.
We’ll keep you posted if we learn anything else on the evolving internet accessibility situation in the Emirates.
