A pink moon is on its way. One of the most popular astronomical spectacles will be visible in the UAE tomorrow night, as the pink moon makes its yearly return to the sky.

Want to watch it? Head outside at moonrise time at 18:27 on Saturday, April 16, and take a good look. It should also be visible at moonrise at 19:30 on Sunday, April 17. The best time to watch the full moon is during moonrise.

The Full Moon will set around 6:16 AM the next day.

What is a pink moon?

What is a pink moon? It’s actually a full moon that’s called that traditionally for the April full moon, originally named that because of the emergence of pink wildflowers in the month of April.

The flowers are called “Phlox Subulta” and bloom during the springtime on the east coast in North America.

The moon, however, won’t actually be pink—it will actually glow orange.

The april full moon is also called a ‘Sprouting Grass Moon’, a “Growing Moon”, the “Fish Moon” and the “Hare Moon”.

The next supermoon

Next month will see the rise of the “Super Blood Flower Moon”, which will be coming to the UAE on May 16, 2022.

That will be a big day for moonwatchers, as the moon will pass into the earth’s shadow, causing a total lunar eclipse. This is also called the “Blood Moon,” as it will turn the surface of the moon to a reddish color. This will last for a total of 84 minutes, according to scientists.

And yes, this will also be a supermoon—perhaps the biggest moon of the year.

NASA’s full moon guide for May 2022 is here.

And yes, this is stuck in our head too.
