Ah, the grey New Balance. Since the late 1970s, the New England-born brand has been covering their running shoes in grey suede, not realizing the effect it would have on culture in the process. Through every ebb and flow, as their integration into everyday life has evolved far past their original intention, nearly every new silhouette has debuted in a grey look that is synonymous with the brand, worn on the streets of United States, on the running tracks of the Middle East, or the coolest clubs of Japan–and everywhere in between.
To celebrate that heritage, New Balance once a year celebrates ‘Grey Day’, focusing on the colourway it made iconic with exclusive drops and new spins on their classic designs, and this year may be the best ever.
So, what are we getting? We won’t delay you any further.
This year, we’re getting two collections, a Moon Daze collection and a Made in USA capsule.
Moon Daze
The “Moon Daze” collection includes versions of four classic New Balance silhouettes: the 550, 580, 9060, and Fresh Foam x More Trail v3.

MADE in USA: Grey/Navy
On the 990v4, 990v6, 996, and 998, we’re getting a unique spin on grey suede with navy hits, with re-debuting 996 and 998 also getting their classic colourways revived, in addition to new spins courtesy of MADE head Teddy Santis, also the founder of Aime Leon Dore.
Middle East shoot
The Middle Easts brand ambassadors did an exclusive shoot to celebrate.
“Over four decades of grey color blocking, New Balance continues to lead the way. I’m excited to be part of the Grey Day ‘Moon Daze’ campaign – aptly named because whenever I’m in my New Balance kicks, I feel like I’m light as air and walking on the moon,” Ascia commented.
“Grey Day is one of the most significant days for the brand and one of the closest to my heart, and I’m extremely excited to be part of a long heritage that is celebrated worldwide,” added Hamad, also known as Young Picasso.

Grey Day will be celebrated through exciting activation zones at Foot Locker Dubai Mall and Foot Locker Riyadh Park, starting May 12th to May 30th, as well as in key retail concepts like Drop Kick in the UAE and KSA and SNKR in Kuwait.
The Grey Day collections will be available online here and in the following locations starting May 12 with prices ranging from AED749 to AED999 for the inline collection and prices ranging from AED899 to AED999 for the Made in USA collection.
