‘No days off’ is the mentality for the growing tribe of Spartans in the Middle East as the famed obstacle course series has just announced it will be hosting its first-ever ‘indoor’ event in the UAE this September.
In partnership with ITP Media Group, Spartan Middle East will host the region’s first-ever Spartan ‘City’ race at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena on September 20, 2025.
This innovative format will challenge adult participants (14+) on a 3km course featuring 15 signature Spartan obstacles, primarily within the arena’s climate-controlled environment, with a brief outdoor segment. Designed for speed, intensity, and accessibility, the ‘City’ race is perfect for newcomers, seasoned Spartans, and corporate teams alike, while dedicated Spartan Kids races will offer tailored distances for younger athletes from ages 4 to 14.
The event, supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, marks a new chapter for Spartan in the region, following significant growth and successful prior events that attracted thousands of participants. Etihad Arena, the Middle East’s largest indoor multipurpose venue, provides an ideal backdrop with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and prime Yas Bay location, promising a seamless and exciting race day for competitors and spectators, complete with family-friendly amenities. All finishers will be awarded a Spartan T-shirt, medal, and a banana to refuel.
