A rare partial solar eclipse will be visible in the UAE on October 25th—and you’re not going to want to miss it. Here’s how to see it from the UAE.

What time is the eclipse in the UAE?

The show is slated to kick off at 2:42pm and come to a close at 4:54pm, so set your alarms and clear your schedules if you plan on partaking in the view.

Being that it’s the last event of its kind for the year why not make an afternoon of it?

Unlike a traditional solar eclipse, where the Moon would perfectly align with the Sun blocking it out completely, a partial eclipse leaves us with a spectacular sight of the perfect circle being pierced by only an edge of our Moon.

Lucky for busy stargazers, you need not trek into the desert in pursuit of clear skies to see this phenomenon, on October 25th 2022 a partial solar eclipse will be visible easily across the region.

This will be the second partial solar eclipse of the year and is sure to garner an epic global audience, as it will be able to be seen Europe, Western Asia, as well as North-eastern Africa.

How to watch the eclipse in the UAE safely

For those wanting to witness the great ball of fire momentarily transition into a crescent, consider this your user’s manual for having the best, and safest, Eclipse viewing.

Before anything it is essential for all to adhere to the guidance of experts and take the necessary steps to protect our eyes. If you have made a habit of staring directly into the sun for whatever reason… don’t do that anymore.

The recommended method of observing an eclipse is by using special-purpose solar filters, commonly referred to as “eclipse glasses”. It is important to note, that while during a total eclipse there is a brief moment (during totality) where the sun is safe to view with the naked eye, this is not the case in a Partial Eclipse. Further, if you plan on utilizing any other viewing methods such as a camera or telescope, it is strongly recommended to apply solar filters to those as well.

If you don’t feel like making your way to your rooftop, with the weather getting tolerable but still not exactly breezy, we would recommend taking advantage of Dubai’s surplus of infinity pools to enjoy the eclipse in absolute comfort and style.
