Gearing up for the upcoming Eid Al Etihad UAE national holiday weekend, Esquire Middle East thought it a perfect occasion to honour another impressive milestone: the 200 year anniversary of Scottish whisky makers, The Macallan. In light of this incredible anniversary, they debuted several new additions to their inimitable malted library, the TIME : SPACE and TIME : SPACE Mastery, part of the TIME : SPACE COLLECTION.
The exclusive, VIP heavy event highlighted the history of The Macallan, while peeking through the glass of what awaits behind the doors of tomorrow.

Taking place at the Tonbo Lounge at Dragonfly inside the Lana at The Dorchester, the event was attended by some of the most notable figures in fashion, publishing, and media, all who shared one thing in common: an affinity for luxury single malt whisky.
TIME : SPACE COLLECTION is defined by two separate editions of Scottish excellence. TIME : SPACE Mastery, pays tribute to the whisky makers of yesteryear through a diverse inventory of the most magnificent oak casks. TIME : SPACE will hold both – a 1940 vintage, bottled at a remarkable 84 years old, and the first release from the new The Macallan Distillery, distilled in 2018 and bottled at 5 Years Old.

It’s truly staggering to think that two centuries have passed since Alexander Reid distilled the first batch of whisky in his small stills, thus beginning the mythical like journey and legacy of The Macallan.
The binding thread of the evening was undoubtedly the power of time travel, a theme explored through five elements of artisan craftsmanship: incomparable, creativity, craftsmanship, legacy, and sustainability.
And the fact that each glass of whisky was complimented by some of the best Sushi by Dragonfly (who also boast arguably the coolest bathrooms in the city) available this side of the gulf was just a bonus.

The Esquire Supper Club continues to be the highlight of the season, but there’s a tangible difference in the room when your dancing partner is The Macallan.
Looking forward to another 200 years of Scotland’s finest. If only we were all around to see it.
