Yves Gastou’s unprecedented collection of men’s rings is mind-blowing. If you don’t want to take our word for it, then by all means go and see it in the flesh at the newly opened ‘Men’s Rings’ exhibition in Dubai Design District (d3).

Hosted at the L’École Middle East – the School of Jewelry Arts in Dubai – the exhibition explores the captivating world of men’s rings by showcasing more than 700 unique pieces from the late French antique art dealer and collector Yves Gastou. The exhibition runs from November 7, 2024, to April 26, 2025.

Spanning over four decades of curation, the remarkable collection illustrates the evolution of men’s rings throughout history, categorized into five themes: History, Gothic, Christian Mysticism, Vanitas, and Eclecticism. The exhibition’s debut in Dubai is perfectly timed with the 10th edition of Dubai Design Week, in collaboration d3.

Yves Gastou, renowned for his daring curatorial eye and eclectic taste, opened his Parisian gallery in 1986, which became iconic for its unique blend of modern and historical pieces. His passion for jewelry, especially men’s rings, led to the creation of this extraordinary collection. It includes a diverse range of items from 17th-century Venetian doge rings to American biker rings from the 1970s, ancient Egyptian rings, and unique contemporary designs.

L’ÉCOLE Middle East is also organizing a public open day on November 9, featuring free activities such as course demonstrations, kids’ workshops, and guided tours of the exhibition. This offers visitors an opportunity to delve deeper into the intersection of jewellery, art, and design through a variety of creative activities.

For those fascinated by the craftsmanship of men’s jewelry, this exhibition offers a rare chance to witness a collection as diverse as it is historically significant. Admission is free upon website registration, and more information about the exhibition and L’ÉCOLE’s jewellery courses can be found on lecolevancleefarpels.com
