If you’ve spent any time in the UAE over the past, oh, I don’t know, six months or so, you’ll undoubtedly have seen your social media feeds flooded with Coldplay hype. Whether said excitement came in the form of people posting the receipts of purchased tickets, or endless Instagram stories begging their followers, “If anyone is selling Coldplay tickets please DM me!!!”, the arrival of the Chris Martin-fronted quartet in the UAE was cause for celebration.

As the sole Middle Eastern stop on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, the UK band delivered a once-in-a-lifetime experience and marked the largest concert series in UAE history with over 200,000 people in attendance across January 9, 11, 12, and 14.

As mentioned, the vehement demand for Coldplay’s Abu Dhabi shows saw millions of fans racing online in hopes of getting tickets, ultimately resulting in the band adding three additional tour dates, all of which sold out within hours. The online scavenging became so intense that it became one of Google’s top searches for 2024.

The record-breaking concert series has not only left a lasting impression on the region’s music scene but has also highlighted Abu Dhabi as a premier destination for world-class events.

If Coldplay can break the internet just two weeks into 2025, does anyone think these guys will take the cake just a few weeks later? I may be biased, but something about electric guitars and heavy distortion really brings a crowd, even if it’s just for one night (get your tickets here).

Rock on for 2025.
