Here’s everything going on in the emirate this upcoming holiday

Everyone’s looking forward to having some time off with family and friends over the Eid Al Ahda break which starts next week, and if you’re looking for things to do, Sharjah has announced a plethora of events to celebrate the occasion.

Starting at 8:00 pm on July 20, at the Al Majaz Waterfront, fireworks will illuminate the night sky as a roaming parade featuring Disney icons such as Aladdin, Jasmine, The Sultan, The Genie, Abu as well as the evil Jafar will take to the streets. Celebrity impersonators live music and acrobats are also expected to perform during the festivities which last from July 20-23.

Meanwhile on the opposite end of the UAE, Khorfakkan Beach will host its own roaming circus parade, Mirror Family performers and a ‘human statue’ Cyr Wheel.

Visitors will have a chance at winning a BMW SUV as well as cash prizes on behalf of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority. In order to participate in the raffle, you’ll need to spend at least AED 50 at either Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Montazah Parks, Al Noor Island, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah, City Sightseeing Sharjah, Khor Fakkan Beach, Mleiha, Sharjah Boats Tour, and The Flag Island until the drawing on August 28.

It should be noted that you’ll get free access to Al Noor Island if you purchase a self-guided tour or Noor Café ticket which starts at AED 35 until August 31. Anyone interested in cruising over some dunes can take advantage of a 30 per cent discount on Mleiha dune buggy tours.

After each transaction, make sure you scan the QR code on your invoice and upload it on https://discovershurooq.ae/. If your mobile data’s slow at that moment then you can also drop the stamped voucher in raffle boxes located outside Shurqooq desitnation restaurants and cafés. During the draws on July 31 and August 28, three winners will be awarded either AED 3,000, AED 5000, AED 10,000 in cash prizes with the grand prize winner being able to drive off in a new black BMW X2.

Also opening in Khorfakkan will be the Al Suhub Rest House, and it’s built atop a mountain in Khorfakkan to give a panoramic view of the city and its coasts. Read more here.
