We talk to the winners of the Esquire Middle East Man at His Best Awards for 2018

We first became aware of Nitin Mirani nine years ago when he made us laugh in Ali F. Mostafa’s City Of Life. Over time we watched his career progress and even included him as one of our Best Dressed Men in 2015.

Throughout his career, he has performed alongside some great international comics as well as continuously raising the bar for the local scene, and now regularly stars in roles in Bollywood. His work ethic and commitment to chase his dream that has made him continually stand out on our radar. Most important of all, he continues to help us to see the lighter side of life and bridge cultural divides with laughter.

What does winning this award mean to you?
It is a huge honour. Being an Indian in Dubai, comedy is not considered a career option. All my life people have always said, Do something with your life or people will laugh at you. Well, I did and they are laughing.

What does 2018 hold for you?
World domination! I have just signed up for a Bollywood film and was recently the opening act up for Trevor Noah in Abu Dhabi. This year I am starting a charity fund where I will do charity shows to raise money for children.
