There are obstacle courses, and then there are Dubai-inspired obstacle courses. On February 10, Dubai will break yet another record by hosting the largest obstacle course race in the UAE. Sandstorm Marmoum will be a mix of terrains, obstacles and views, suited to everyone. The contest will take place at Al-Qudra lakes, home to Al Marmoum conservation, which stretches across 400 hectares, comprising of lakes, wildlife and a lot of sand.
Don’t worry if you are not quite the fitness guru, the Sandstorm challenge has the option of either a 5 or 10 kilometre race, so no excuses. Whatever distance will have you, both will be set across four different terrains. Rock, sand, water and mud, but you won’t just spend your whole time getting dirty and wet because the course has more than 40 obstacles.
You certainly don’t have to be in great shape to compete but if you really are a lazy potato then the sand storm village is for you. Within the village there will be food trucks, photo booths, live drone footage of the race and a grandstand so you can grab the best viewpoint to laugh at your friends/family.
Entry prices are Dhs350 for 5 kilometres and Dhs450 for 10 kilometres. Registration is now open.
