Rewarding the region’s next generation

The first ever Young Arab Awards ceremony has crowned saw fifteen young Arabs under the age of 30 win awards for outstanding achievements in a range of fields.

Held at the Taj Dubai Hotel, the inaugural awards saw recognition in the fields of entertainment, design, business, journalism, philanthropy, sports and science.

The winner of the hallmark “Young Arab of the Year” awards was the Emirati author Dubai Abulhoul who this year penned the best-selling novel Galagolia. During the presentation of her award, former UK ambassador to Lebanon said she was also in recognition of her humanitarian work.

The event was opened with keynote speeches from the chair of the judges panel including Esquire’s Middle East Man of the Year 2015 Chaker Khazaal, and UAE Minister of State for Tolerance, H.E Sheikh Lubna Al Qasimi. There were also speeches from Luca Allam, managing director of presenting sponsor PHD Media, and “Pepper the robot” – speaking on behalf of headline sponsor Emirates NBD.
