As a self-confessed “watch freak”, it was only a matter of time before Erling Haaland was snapped up as the new face of a watch brand, with Breitling being the perfect match.
This season the 22-year-old Manchester City striker has confirmed just why he was touted as one of the sport’s most exciting talents by breaking goal-scoring records in the English Premier League (scoring 15 goals in his first nine matches) and adding to an outrageous career-haul of 28 Champions League goals in his first 22 appearances.

A while the world’s football clubs look enviously at Manchester City’s all-action striker, the same can now be said about the luxury watch industry, who will be casting eyes at Breitling’s new man, who takes his place in the brand’s ‘All-Star Squad’ of sporting ambassadors alongside basketball’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, snowboarding’s Chloe Kim, and American football’s Trevor Lawrence.
“Erling Haaland is exactly what we look for in a squad member,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “He’s a powerful performer, he’s got tremendous character, he’s completely authentic and down to earth—Erling is the absolute embodiment of Breitling’s casual and inclusive luxury.”

The link between the footballer and Breitling’s ‘All-Star’ squad is a good one, with Haaland a self-confessed ‘watch guy’.
“I’m a watch freak, so I was already a big fan of the brand,” says Haaland of the partnership. “If you know my style, you know I always go for a clean look that can take me between my public and private life. The new Breitling I’m representing is exactly that: a watch that works for everything that I do. I can’t wait to introduce it next week and to finally wear it myself.
The first watch to be strapped to the Norwegian’s wrist is the new Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 – a multi-faceted travel watch sturdy enough for the gym yet smart enough for black tie. Judging by the number of trophies and awards that Haaland and his team are likely to pick up, it seems really quite apt.
