During the mania at this years Golden Globes award show, reporters caught up with Donald Glover, star and co creator of Atlanta, known to many as Childish Gambino when he’s making music instead of tv. He proceeded to put to rest any speculation that he’s hung up his cape, announcing that he has been in the studio and has projects in the works.

The artist started his music career with his debut studio album Camp, which was initially met with mixed reviews but has become a fan favorite that has aged perfectly. He’s since had 12 Grammy nominations along with 5 wins.

Rumors of Gambino’s retirement began with an interview with HuffPost, coming off a performance at the 2017 performance at the Governors Ball festival during which he announced his next album would be his last. In the interview he explained, “Like I feel like there’s gotta be a reason to do things”, and that he felt his music career was no longer “necessary”.

Glover saw his music career as Childish Gambino skyrocket to the mainstream with his 2016 album, “Awaken, My Love!”, which included the grammy winning hit Redbone.

He made headlines again in 2018 with his powerful song and music video “This is America”, since then he’s been relatively quiet in the music scene, spending most of his time on his show Atlanta which wrapped up it’s final season last year.

Sporting a Lando-esque stache, Glover fondly reminisced his experience with Atlanta and its conclusion before addressing the future of Childish Gambino.

Upon being asked about his alleged retirement from music Glover quickly assured the reporter that that was not the case saying “I’m actually making music right now” and that he’s been in the studio bringing in “secret people”.

Gambino, going to start calling him that again as he’s been resurrected, goes on to say that he’s just been making music for fun up to now but he left us with a very important promise, “soon something will happen”.

Will we be getting the rapping Childish Gambino of old or will we be seeing more soul and alternative tunes from the versatile artist? Either way fans have a reason to hope again, we wish to see the same treatment for Frank Ocean fans you remain in our prayers.
