Before you start thinking what lunartic on the internet is trolling you, rest assured, this could very well become a reality. Canadian architectural company and intellectual property licencor, Moon World Resorts Inc. have proposed to build Moon Dubai, a planet shaped and sized destination resort.

All those people who tell their partner “I love you to the moon and back” will have to come up with something new because that expression will lose its value if the Moon is only just up the road.
On the bright side, if you were tell someone that you were “over the moon” about them, they’d have a pretty clear indication of how strong your feelings are given that Moon Dubai is expected to have an overall height of 735 feet (224 metres). Using that expression in Dubai would really convince someone that you’re willing to go the distance.
Speaking to Arabian Business, the Moon Dubai concept was proposed by Michael R. Henderson and Sandra G. Matthew and would be able to accommodate up to 10 million annual visitors.

Guests can expect to find a nightclub, event centre, global meeting place, lounge as well as a spa and wellness section. A special transport system called a “moon shuttle” is also said to be offered but further details haven’t been given yet.

Moon Dubai would also be surrounded by a so called “lunar colony” which is expected to accommodate 2.5 million guests on the ground.
Designed to be built in 48 months the resort is expected to enhance Dubai’s hospitality, attractions, entertainment, technology, education, the environment and well as space tourism said Henderson.
“Moon Dubai will significantly impact every aspect of the emirate’s economy including tourism, transportation, commercial and residential real estate, infrastructure, financial services, aviation and space, energy, MICE, agriculture, technology and of course education.” said Henderson.

“Moon Dubai will be the largest and most successful modern-day tourism project within the entire MENA region, doubling annual tourism visitations to Dubai based on its global appeal, brand awareness and unique multiple integrated offerings,” said Henderson and Matthews.
Villas in the sky
Approximately 300 private residences called Sky Villas will be available for purchase and grant owners exclusive access to a private members club at Moon Dubai. These villas will be housed internally within the main superstructure disc buildings.
“Currently, MWR is planning a 2023 global road-show series showcasing Moon to potential regional licensees. One such show will take place in the MENA region, potentially Dubai, UAE, with other options including KSA, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.” said Henderson.
The precise location of Moon Dubai has yet to be determined. Henderson states that once chosen, a one year pre-development program will be initiated, which will be followed by a four year build out program.
