In a grandiose tribute to the fearless spirit of Air Max, Nike marked Air Max Day with a show-stopping launch of their latest sneaker sensation, the Air Max Pulse, at the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
A mesmerizing spectacle of visuals and sound, the event illuminated the world’s tallest building, epitomizing the spirit of pushing boundaries, just as the Air Max has since its introduction in 1987.
This year’s celebration witnessed a one-of-a-kind multisensory experience, with a striking fusion of nostalgic, local Arabic sounds and futuristic beats, crafted by Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Alhamdan aka Warchieff and UAE-based artist, Sonya.
The duo crafted a unique soundtrack, blending Arabian cultural elements with modern rhythmic styles, delivering an unparalleled sonic experience that celebrates fearless self-expression and unrestricted creativity.
“For this soundtrack, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the infamous Saudi creative, Warchieff and produce something unique for the region. We both wanted it to be a tribute to the local Arabic sounds which are on the radar now. We came up with two versions, both carrying a captivating, nostalgic and futuristic vibe. We fused together; it created a unique sensory experience while keeping our own unique stamp on it,” says Sonya.
The immersive spectacle was further elevated by pulsating visuals and vivid lighting, reflecting the dynamic energy of the local music scene, which fuses the nostalgic sounds of classic Arabic funk with modern electronic rhythms, that inspired the Air Max Pulse. With enhanced bounce and reactivity, the sneaker employs a point-loaded system that distributes weight onto targeted points on the airbag.
Building on the iconic 270 Air Bag unit, the Air Max Pulse pushes the limits of sensorial design, creating a striking, versatile silhouette that transitions seamlessly from day to night.
