Every now and again the ever-churning rumour mill that is the internet throws out something rather peculiar. This is one of those times.
Rumours started circulating late last night that Sylvester Stallone had passed away, after a two-year battle with prostate cancer. Naturally, after hearing this it didn’t talk long for gullible fans to take to social media, sending out commiserations as well as posting their favourite Stallone moments.
Of course, the rumours weren’t accurate.
Fortunately, Stallone has taken it in his stride. He confirmed via social media that he was “still punching” and said, “Please ignore this stupidity… Alive and well and happy and healthy.”
In a later post, he shared a still from 2008’s Rambo flick, in which he grabbed a character by the throat. The comment that went along with it reads, “Remember to always grab LIFE by the throat and do not let go until you succeed!!”
Two years ago Stallone faced another similar death hoax, after a fake news report – apparently, from a fudged CNN broadcast – did the rounds. He also laughed that one off.
