Most of us go to the beach for sun, salt, and good music. Mercedes-Maybach, however, decided the shoreline needed something a little more… riveting. So when the SL 680 Monogram Series made its Middle East debut at La Cantine Beach, it did so with confidence reserved for a car that knows it’s about to steal the scene and possibly your attention for the foreseeable future.

The launch unfolded on November 11 at La Cantine Beach on Bluewaters Island. Model and entrepreneur Jessica Kahawaty played host to the proceedings, while DJ Jonas Blue delivered a set for the celebrations afterwards.

Of course, the star of the evening was the SL 680 Monogram Series itself — the brand’s first-ever open-top two-seater, that makes you want to get behind the steering wheel. It takes the beloved SL proportions and reinterprets them through the Mercedes-Maybach lens: smooth power, immaculate craft, and intricately tailored design details. The illuminated chrome grille, upright bonnet star, and rose-gold headlight accents all contribute to an athletic identity that’s still unmistakably Maybach. Even the acoustic soft top gets a signature touch with a subtle anthracite pattern.

Two design concepts headline the launch — ‘White Ambience’ and ‘Red Ambience’ — offering either understated refinement or a bolder, more expressive edge. For those who find such decisions limiting, there’s a catalogue of more than 50 MANUFAKTUR paint colours for customisation.

Crystal-white MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather wraps nearly every surface of the interior, supported by silver-chrome accents and Maybach’s floral quilting. Underneath, the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo paired with a 9G-TRONIC transmission delivers smooth and controlled power, while rear-axle steering sharpens manoeuvrability.

The model also marks a turning point for Mercedes-Maybach — the expansion into a fourth series and a shift toward individuality as the new measure of luxury. It’s the fourth model series in the brand’s portfolio, and perhaps its most expressive yet.

And because a single evening wasn’t nearly enough, Mercedes-Maybach extended the celebration with a takeover of La Cantine Beach that runs until December 23. Visitors can explore branded installations, discover the MAYBACH Icons of Luxury showcase, sample a special menu, and test drive the full line-up, including the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, S-Class and EQS SUV.

By the time the takeover concludes, La Cantine Beach will return to being one of Dubai’s many sea-facing destinations. Until then, it offers a rare opportunity to step into the Mercedes-Maybach universe and experience its crystal-white leather, the power of a V8 biturbo, along with the brand’s unmistakable craft, performance, and ambience first-hand.
