The finale was equal parts satisfying and enjoyable

It’s very rare that a long time series can give fans what they want in its season finale.

Take it from Game of Thrones – which still has fans clamouring on abour re-filming not just the final episode, but the concluding season.

However, it seems that Homeland managed to deliver a finale that was equal parts satisfying and enjoyable.

SPOILRS AHEAD (DUH)!

In an effort to avert nuclear war, Carrie (played by Claire Danes) betrays her longtime mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin) by turning him over to a Russian kill team when refusing to disclose the identity of his double-crossing Russian asset.

However, Carrie ends up figuring out who the Russian agent is before Saul gets caught. The agent kills herself before she can be captured, prompting the Russian spies to release vital information preventing nuclear war. Carrie is branded a traitor.

Flash forward two years, and we see Carrie living in Moscow and about to release a book about why she chose to betray America.

But not all is what it seems, as in the final scenes of the episode we see a special copy end up in Saul’s hands, including information about Russian secret agents (proving that she still is working for the American Intelligence Community – just now from within Russia).

Fans on social media ate it up:

This marks the end of Homeland’s eight and final season.
