The One on One gastro bar has been a fixture in the H Dubai since it opened. Before, in fact. What was once the staple spot for a pre-dinner aperitif or late-night soporific at the Monarch, it is a testament to the venue that it has survived the hotel’s rebrand with its reputation not only in tact but some would say considerably enhanced.
The L-shaped bar of muted lighting and natural finishes flows seamlessly from the hotel’s impressive lobby, and helps to maintain the general air of refinement. As such, it remains one of our favourite places to impress clients, which is why we’ll be embracing their new “Perfect Pair” promotions as often as our expense accounts will allow.
The (refreshingly simple) concept is to pair ideal food and beverage combinations on different nights of the week, offering a pleasingly masculine range of tastes whenever you choose to stop by. If pushed, Wednesday is probably our pick but there’s something to be said for sampling them all.
Monday: Vodka and Vines
With some distinctly local flavour, this night pairs house-made vine leaves stuffed with a choice of spicy lamb, beef and capsicum with two Russian Standard Vodka cocktails, the Moscow Mule and the Mint Julep. Get the tastebuds earning their money.

Tuesday: Whisky and Wagyu
Whisky and Wagyu night offers the experience of two of the Chef’s signature servings of Wagyu beef; baby ribs and anticucho – South American beef skewers, essentially – served alongside two glasses of heavenly single malt Scotch whisky.

Wednesday: Bordeaux and Burgers
Bordeaux and Burgers introduces a trio of Chef’s gourmet burgers with crispy hand-cut fries accompanied by weekly featured selection of wines (two reds, one white) from world’s most famous wine-making region.

See in the weekend with style with Cognac and Cigars. Enjoy a selected Cuban cigar paired with the Chef’s specially made smoke-inspired dishes, such as Cognac marinated salmon gravlax. Guests can then choose their preference a large snifter of Hennessey Cognac or a Duo of Hennessey Cognac inspired cocktails.

Friday: Pints and Pies
Pints and Pies brings gastro pub dining to Dubai. Diners can enjoy a trio of house-made classic pies including braised beef and mushroom pie, chicken and leek pie and homely classic cottage pie served with a trio of craft beers, stouts, ales and ciders. Frankly, it’s what weekends were made for.
