The UAE’s dining scene continues to evolve with the announcement of the country’s first UAE microbrewery – Craft by Side Hustle – to open in Abu Dhabi.

Set to open this month in the capital’s The Galleria Al Maryah Island – Craft by Side Hustle will be the first venue in the GCC to offer in-house brewed hops, grains and cocktails.

According to an article on Bloomberg, it is made possible due to the 2021 updating of the alcohol licensing regulations in Abu Dhabi, which allows license holders to brew beverages on-site for consumption in licensed venues.

This paved the way for Craft by Side Hustle to launch as the region’s inaugural brewery operation.

As a result Side Hustle Brews & Spirits becomes the UAE’s first homegrown craft brand – a result that, it mentions in a press release, was “born out of a desire to build a community of people passionate about flavour and freshness.”

Founder and CEO of Side Hustle Brews & Spirits, Chad McGehee, said that the microbrewery enterprise was “commited to delivering innovative and authentic F&B experiences worthy of the UAE’s high standards.”
