It almost feels like we’ve known about Drake’s next Nocta drop forever. And by forever we, of course, mean last April when the Canadian rapper sported a pair of, what we now know as, NOCTA Glide shoes sitting courtside for a Toronto Raptors game. While the guy is still kinda flirting with us all over a release date, we have it on good authority things will be happening soon (maybe).

The NOCTA Glide: Here’s what we know

A sub label for Nike, and so named after Drake’s penchant to create after dark, NOCTA has only been in the game since December 2020, dropping merch the same month and then the Hot Step Air Terra shoe just a short while later.

Taking clear inspiration from the Nike Air Zoom Flight ’95—famously worn by basketball legend Jason Kidd during his time at the Dallas Mavericks—the shoe features woven detailing along the sides, while midsole eyelets reference the original shoe’s carbon fibre panelling. Finally a mesh base, Nike lettering, and a blue translucent sole close the shoe out.

When can you expect to cop?

Although a release date for this shoe has been floating around sneakerhead DMs for more than a year, we’re expecting a release date this month—in OG black and white colourway and more to follow—and for it to replace the aforementioned Terra as NOCTA’s main shoe silhouette. All for the fairly decent price point of around $160.

What’s the early reaction?

Unsurprisingly for a Drake shoe based on an iconic silhouette, Twitter has some things to say about it. A mixed bag of love, hate and bare madness. Here are some of our favourites from the feeds at Nice Kicks and Sneaker News…

It ranges from the good…

To the bad (but very specific)…

The pro-Kanye…

To the anti-Kanye…

The time travel appreciation post…

To the big fat no…
