Ah, adolescence. Time, as much as some of us beg it to stop, continues on, turning even our most beloved child stars into young adults, seemingly instantly. Take Jacob Tremblay, for instance.

The incredibly talented actor, who once brought his once-in-a-generation ability to act like an actual kid rather than a weird stage kid to films such as Room, Good Boys and Luca, is now 16 years old, even though he was 8 years old like yesterday.

Tremblay, who stars in the upcoming live action remake of Disney‘s The Little Mermaid as Flounder, was spotted at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles looking much more like Timothée Chalamet than his old self, and the internet has instantly taken notice.

Jacob Tremblay: Which celebrity does he look like?

1. Timothée Chalamet

“Lie is that not Timothée?” Twitter user Tabitha commented.

“Timmy T!” Lmfaoooo the body language is Mr. Chamalet to a T,” added Twitter user Wandz.

2. Finn Wolfhard

Others have said he looks like other celebrities, such as Finn Wolfhard.

3. Gordo from Lizzie McGuire

Another compared him to Gordo from the Disney Channel television show Lizzie McGuire, played by Adam Lamberg.

4. Logan Lerman

Still others are saying he has morphed into more of a Logan Lerman of Perks of Being a Wallflower and Percy Jackson fame.

5. Linguini from Pixar’s Ratatouille

Perhaps most compellingly of all, he’s been compared to another famed Disney animated character, this time not a fish at all.

Jacob Tremblay defends Flounder’s new look

While many have criticized the non-cartoonish look of the new Flounder in the upcoming remake of The Little Mermaid, releasing in cinemas across the Middle East on May 25, Tremblay came to the defense of the new design on the red carpet.

“I actually saw it for the first time in the audition — [director] Rob [Marshall] had showed me. I thought it was really cool because I like how they’re doing it to make them look like real animals,” Tremblay said to The Hollywood Reporter.

“In rehearsals too I had seen the other characters’ designs and thought it was really cool, and then I finally got to see the movie last night and I thought they worked really well. I couldn’t really imagine it a different way, if that makes sense. I think it worked perfectly; they were really smart about it.

Our last interview with Jacob Tremblay

We last spoke to the young actor in 2021 for Luca, in which Jacob Tremblay admitted he cried when Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame, proving he is perhaps the most relatable young star going today.

It was a really good conversation and you’ll definitely enjoy it.

While we wait for the new film to release, here’s some more pictures of Tremblay looking like a new person from this week.

“Sometimes I forget you’re not a baby anymore!” said one commenter.

Anyhow, see you all at The Little Mermaid!
