In its 40 years, Chronoswiss has taken risks and made bold decisions in the world of watchmaking, that trend continues as they have become the first luxury watch brand to launch a timepiece and its own Atelier in the Metaverse.
Normally located in Lucerne, the Chronoswiss Atelier has a new home in the Metaverse, more specifically it can be found in the Ethereum-Blockchain world of Decentraland. The Decentraland space includes over 90,000 areas of land including a number of impressive buildings and backdrops.
While this move marks a big transition in the history of Chronoswiss, it is not their first move within the realm of the Blockchain. In 2018 the Swiss watch manufacturer became the first in the industry to accept a number of crypto currencies as methods of payment and even released a limited number of blockchain timepieces.
Speaking of the move into the Metaverse Oliver Ebstein, Chronoswiss owner & CEO, says:
“We understand the Metaverse as the next evolutionary step of the internet, where business and gaming merge into a unique customer experience. We are aware that it is a bet on a yet unclear vision. But it is beyond exciting and every promising vision needs people who believe in it. The virtual Atelier is a lab for extraordinary ideas in a world that has really no limitations.”
Any users who find themselves at the virtual Atelier will be able to buy a total of 100 limited edition digital wearables from the collection dubbed “Open Gear ReSec Sugar Rush” for their online Avatars. For those more materialistic old timers there will also be 8 limited edition real watches, exclusively produced in Lucerne for clients of the virtual Atelier. Each of the watches will be connected to an NFT that the buyer receives.
The watchmaker calls the Sugar Rush the wildest interpretation of a world that is far beyond the imaginable, given the aesthetic of a modern mechanical candyshop on steroids, the look fits the description.
