Kanye West has one. David Beckham has one. Drake has one. Heck, even Jimmy Fallon has one. In and La Maison Drew 2019, you can barely call yourself a celebrity without your very own clothing line. Fortunately, that’s no longer a problem for one Justin Bieber.
The Biebs just unwrapped Drew House – which references his middle name. The line has been in the works for almost a year (that’s when he trademarked the names ‘Drew’, ‘the house of Drew’ and ‘La Maison Drew’.
We’re glad he didn’t go with that last one.
According to Justin Bieber’s Drew website, all pieces are ethically made in limited quantities in Los Angeles. Fortunately, the prices are more wallet-friendly than one might expect from a celebrity clothing line.
T-shirts are going for US$48 (AED176) and a pair of pants retails at US$148 (AED545). The band’s first drop looks suspiciously like a cross between Yeezy – Kanye West’s clothing brand – and Bieber’s own over-sized skater-boy guise.
No points for guessing Justin Bieber’s favourite colour of the season; tan seems to be very much in at the Bieber household.
Part of the marketing campaign around each product involves the telling of inane facts. For example, “there is an official wizard of New Zealand” (there is) and the fact that “you can’t hum while holding your nose closed” (indeed, you cannot).
In honest, Justin Bieber’s new collection is a tad more paired-back than we would expect from the pop star. Smiley face emojis with the word ‘drew’ written over the mouth and a pair of trousers with ‘drew’ emblazoned on the crotch aside, there are a few decent pieces here.
