Fantastic news for film fans: Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation has launched The Film Foundation Restoration Screening Room, which will host free screenings online of films that the foundation has helped restored.

The screening series will kick off on May 9 with the 1945 Romance ‘I Know Where I’m Going’, with a special introduction by Scorsese himself, along with new interviews with Thelma Schoonmaker Powell, Joanna Hogg, Tilda Swinton and Kevin Macdonald.

  3. Register with your information and choose which streaming time works best for you.
  4. Log back in when the screening is set to begin–or log in any time for 24 hours after that time to watch the film with special Scorsese additions.

The screenings will be a treasure trove for film fans, with behind the scenes looks at the restoration process, many appearances from A-list fans (including Tilda Swinton for the first) and many more things to come.

“Many of these presentations will feature restorations that are rarely seen, with myself and other filmmakers sharing why these films are important, how they have impacted our lives and why it’s crucial that they be preserved.”

The films will debut on the second Monday of every month, with upcoming films including are Federico Fellini’s La Strada, G. Aravindan’s Kummatty, a film noir double feature of Edgar G. Ulmer’s Detour and Arthur D. Ripley’s The Chase, and John Huston’s Moulin Rouge, with more titles set to to be announced.

Every screening will be curated by Scorsese himself, with Kent Jones working along with him.

The screenings will be done in partnership with Oracle and DelphiQuest, who will help make things available online.
