The Rugby World Cup may be nearing its end, and as we’ve been thoroughly enjoyed the competition, we couldn’t help but notice but off the pitch the players are a much more savvy dressed bunch than their predecessors.
French fashion brand, Eden Park are the official clothing sponsors of the French, English, Irish and Italian rugby teams, and it shows. The rugby-inspired brand manages to successfully combine sportswear with a gentlemanly twist and ever more so in their new A/W collection.
Taking inspiration this season from New Zealand, the new collection reads like a journey through the vast country starting from was a touch of preppiness as a nod to its world-famous school, the University of Auckland. Navy blazers, varsity jackets, striped scarves and white cotton shirts are all alumni-inspired yet aimed at city-based men, like us Gulf-dwellers. Also worth noting is Eden Park’s range of down jackets and multi-pocket parkas with coyote fur and sheepskin collars. Each piece of outerwear was inspired by the Kiwi mountains but perfectly suited to expat’s heading home to cooler climates this winter.
Other warm-winter staples worth nothing from Eden Park this season are the large cable knit jumpers, boiled wool blazers, and large-checked flannel shirts. Each are perfectly adaptable for all occasions, urban or otherwise and while it might be hard to imagine right now when it’s still pushing 40 degrees, come the winter you’ll be glad you invested early, especially if you’re travelling.
But the most important aspect of Eden Park’s menswear this season is that is focuses around a range of modern cuts paired with optimal comfort. In reality this means you’ll still feel as comfortable as you would if you had your favourite team’s sports shirt on, but look decidedly smarter.
