You’re a human being. You know what Amazon is. You know what Amazon does. What started off as a humble ugly duckling of an online bookstore has transformed itself over the years into an elegant swan of a conglomerate that caters to just about every desire fathomable. And the recent launch of a brand-new Prime Wardrobe service coming off the back of their recent eye-watering $13.4 billion acquisition of Whole Foods, it truly seems like Amazon is determined (and perhaps sees itself as destined) to take over the entire planet.
The Prime Wardrobe service is keen to turn Amazon into your go-to location for online fashion. Gone are the days where you’d buy a shirt online only to find out that it fits on your person about as well as a vegan fits in at a barbecue, as Amazon is giving its consumers the unique option to try-before-they buy on the items of clothes they order online.
It works a little something like this: items ordered via Prime Wardrobe will be delivered directly to the customer’s doorstep with no upfront cost. After that they’ll then have an entire week to decide whether or not they want to keep the clothes they’ve ordered. If they like what they’ve ordered, they buy it. If they don’t, they can return the products free of charge. It’s pretty straightforward.
With more than a million products available from a host of established brands, it really sounds far too good to be true, so it’s unsurprising that the likes of already-established online retailers such as Asos and Motel have begun to worry about their customers jumping ship to the S.S. Amazon. For the time being however, they can breathe a momentary sigh of relief as Amazon has only just started to test the waters via an exclusive stateside launch of the service.
Though if Prime Wardrobe is anywhere near as successful as the rest of Amazon’s ever-exapnding business portfolio, then we’re sure it won’t be long until you, too, can commit yet another facet of your life to the Amazon overlords.
