Songwriter, DJ and the lead singer of Karrouhat, an Arabic reggae project. More than just a band, Al Hadi defines Karrouhat as his life’s project, a non-physical extension of who he is.

What do you think makes you stand out?
Musically, I want represent the region that I come from. My sound is heavily inspired by Arab culture and when I DJ, I try to play a lot of Middle Eastern tunes and Arabic songs. I think we need to be doing more of this, as it is important to celebrate our heritage.
Who influences you?
I like to walk. It helps me think and it allows me to look at life around me. It’s on the streets that I usually find my influences and inspiration.
Who is your style icon?
I look at people in everyday life and seeing how they dress themselves. I love going to thrift shops and finding unique pieces that I can mix and match.
Why does Instagram work best for you?
For my generation in the Middle East, it seems to be the most popular platform. I feel that Instagram is more for the youth, and it is a great way to connect with people from all around the world.
What is next for you?
My band Karrouhat will be releasing a new album this coming year. I have written seven songs, and it will also include two videos elements that come with it.
