It’s time to stop exercising those thumbs so much and start pumping the iron with that brain.
Here’s how you can start using your phone less and start living life more.
A recent survey showed that millennials are spending around two hours and 38 minutes on social media each day. A study of more than 500 young people aged 18 to 38 found a direct link between mental health issues and social media addiction.
How to digitally detox in a week:
Day 1
Delete apps you never use and unsubscribe from pointless emails.
Day 2
Turn off all the push notifications from your mobile so you’re not distracted by your phone.
Day 3
The moment you wake up, don’t go straight to the phone and start mindlessly scrolling through Instagram. We guess this means investing in an alarm clock over using your phone alarm.
Day 4
Take your phone charging cable out of your bedroom and put it in a different room, not only will this make you want to buy an alarm clock even more, it’ll make using your phone as you wake up less of a routine.
Day 5
Don’t take your phone out with you for a trip today, best not to face any danger this day, as without your phone, you’re in trouble.
Day 6
Delete all social media apps from your phone for the day.
Day 7
Switch off your phone, put it in a drawer and forget about it for the whole day, after doing all the above for a week, this last one should be an easy and obvious last step, just don’t be expecting any job offers over the phone this day.
