Royal Family Drama time!
The Queen of England announced today that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) will be creating their very own royal household (that’s posh British speech for ‘doing their own thing’).
Currently, the couple lives and work under the same roof as Prince William and Kate Middleton, but that’s no longer the case. The split means that both royal families will have their very own dedicated staff, estates and social media accounts.
Apparently, an ex-Hillary Clinton staffer is set to join Prince William and Kate Middleton to take care of all their communications working out of a joint Meghan+Harry office in Buckingham Palace.
This comes after months of royal speculation – the stuff reality TV dreams are made of – that Meghan and Kate don’t like each other. They won’t have to put up with each other for much longer.
Sources close to the palace have said that Harry and Meghan want to move out of Kensington Palace by the time their first child is born. According to some British tabloids, it’s because ‘Meghan feels stifled by palace life’.
They will be moving into Frogmore Cottage. While it certainly isn’t a castle, it looks to have more than enough room for a recently wed couple expecting their first child. It’s a collection of five semi-detached units with room enough ten bedrooms. The cottage was recently renovated and now boasts its own yoga studio and nursery.
Why is this such a big deal? It means we should see a lot less of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton at royal events, and it should give Harry and Meghan a bit more freedom in things like which charities to support, where to go on holiday, etc.
