Today, July 26, 2024, the 33rd Olympic Games will begin at 9:30 pm UAE time, lasting for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Deviating from tradition, the Paris 2024 Olympics will make history as the first opening ceremony not held inside a stadium, but rather outside alongside the river Seine. Although this was ostensibly a secret, naturally, that secret was difficult to keep under wraps, as fans are now aware to line the river banks where boats will carry thousands of athletes from around the world on a 6km (3.7 mile) floating parade through the heart of the city of lights.

“There won’t be a single riverbank or bridge that won’t be filled with music, dance or performance,” noted organisers of the eagerly anticipated event. Additional rumours are saying that Lady Gaga and Celine Dion will perform at the opening ceremony, although these reports have yet to be confirmed by official organisers.

According to a recent piece in Arabian Business, spectators in Dubai and Abu Dhabi prefer social media and online streaming platforms to watch the Olympics. If so, YouTube TV and beIN Sports will be streaming the live event on TV in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and across the MENA region.
