The UAE is no stranger to stellar live acts.
Some of the biggest names in entertainment now count the region as a must-visit stop-off on their global tours, and music-lovers really have one man to thank for that; Thomas Oveson.
The veteran Dubai-based concert promoter previously worked for Done Events and then newly-formed 117Live
(he was tasked with building the Autism Rocks Arena — a 20,000 person open-air venue). It was there that he regularly rubbed shoulders with talent such as Elton John, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Nicki Minaj.
Today, he heads up programming for the new Dubai Arena — the huge 500,000-sqft concert and event space that is set to further cement the city’s status as an entertainment hub. The stadium—which is managed by AEG—features automated seats, allowing the venue to transform according to the type and size of the event being held, which means it’s suitable for a lot more than just music.
