-The Influencers - Saleh Al Braik
An Emirati entrepreneur, Al Braik runs an investment firm whose portfolio ranges from restaurants and gyms to real estate and construction. He uses social media as an outlet to give his creative side a chance to shine.
What do you think makes you stand out?
What puts me against the grain is the way I present myself on social media. I try to be brutally honest about the business world I’m in, and put my experiences — especially the failures — out there for other people to learn from. I don’t think you can be an entrepreneur if you have not failed more times than you’ve succeeded! So I try and share the lessons I learn.
Who influences you?
My father taught me so much. He was the first generation to go into his field and went in with nothing. What he did with me was not give me the easy life; he told me to go away and make something of myself until he was ready to pass on the company to me 13 years later.
Who is your style icon?
I don’t really have one. I’m the kind of person who dresses comfortably first, and then professionally second. Because of the different businesses
I run, I’ll either be in gym shorts or a kandora.
Why does Instagram work best for your message?
I feel that it is the best medium to translate my writing and Phoneography. With each post I try to create a storyline to add context that will resonate with the people who are reading.
