World Art Dubai 2016
Art can seem exclusive to the walls of galleries and big art collectors. From Art Dubai to Design Days Dubai to SIKKA Art Fair – we’ve all been to one of these events, seen something we like, and never bother asking about the price because it’ll probably cost too much, right? And, let’s face it, coming home to bare walls after viewing some inspiring piece of art tends to leave us feeling a little empty inside. Well, World Art Dubai is trying change that by adding a little (affordable) colour to everyone’s world/wall.
With a focus on affordability, accessibility, and availability, World Art Dubai was created to satisfy the art appetite of the region’s art enthusiasts, regardless of budget. The event will bring together art from around the world with a pieces that range from $100 to $10,000, as it sheds the perception that art is an item of luxury reserved for the elite.
World Art Dubai, as an art event, is a big step for up and coming artists and art enthusiasts alike. Locally, events like this help promote the growth of creativity and offer platforms for creatives that wouldn’t necessarily have one. Instead of rehashing the ol’ cliche of there being ‘no culture’ in the Gulf, you can show you support to the local artists, galleries and organisers just by attending – and if you get to go home with something you love, then that’s just a bonus.
As well as various local artists and galleries, the event will also showcase galleries from countries like Singapore, Spain, France, Japan and more.
There will also be a number of activities for visitors like a live painting area for visitors to watch art being created by artists, talks and workshops for those who want to participate or immerse themselves further into the art scene. Not to forget the art installations and for when you get hungry, a line-up of food trucks. World Art Dubai has even teamed up with Repton School, who will assist in running an inter-school art competition for students titled ‘Urban Dubai’. This competition will be made available to junior and senior students.
