Hublot unveils two new Ferrari special edition Big Bangs for 2020
Hublot and Ferrari are celebrating Scuderia Ferrari’s 1,000th Grand Prix with a special edition of its iconic Big Bang.
The year is also the 70th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship, and so Hublot put something rather special together. Scuderia Ferrari is the only team to have taken part in every World Championship Formula 1 race since its first back in 1950.
“Since 2011, Hublot has worked closely with Scuderia Ferrari, the greatest team in the history of motor sport,” said Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot’s CEO, in a statement.
“And it is with this in mind that we pay tribute to this incredible celebration of 1000 races at the Formula 1 Grand Prix, in the same year that our brand celebrates its 40th anniversary.”
The watch comes in two iterations, and is limited to just 20 pieces.
The first was inspired by the brand’s prancing horse motif, and has a 45mm case forged from polished white gold. It comes with two interchangeable straps (thanks to the brand’s one-click system), one made of Pecari leather – which is used for the glovers of Scuderia’s drivers – or an embossed one from Shedoni leather.
The second has the dame 45mm diameter, but is crafted out of carbon-ceramic – a material that was made with help from Scuderia Ferrari. The material which is more commonly used on the brakes of Formula 1 cars was chosen for its extreme durability. It too comes with a black Shedoni leather strap, or a woven model made from SuperFabric.
Both come powered by Hublot’s Unico Manufacture movement. Each limited edition is worth around US$52,600.
