Elon Musk has made US$57 billion this year alone. Now 4th richest person in the world
Elon Musk has leapfrogged up the world’s richest list yesterday, as share surged netting the outspoken billionaire a cool US$8 billion.
That gives him a personal fortune of around US$85 billion, making him officially the world’s fourth richest person.
The technology entrepreneur and the man behind Tesla and SpaceX overtook French luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault.
Tesla’s stock surge is just the latest triumph for Musk, who only two years ago was sued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, forcing him to resign as chairman of the electric-car maker. So far this year, Tesla shares are up almost 340 per cent.
So far Musk has made US$57.2 billion this year, which is second only to Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos (who has made US$73 billion thanks in part to worldwide coronavirus lockdowns).
This year saw Mark Zuckerberg become a centbillionaire (he hit triple digits in billions) becoming the third man to do so, behind Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos respectively.
