Watch the trailer for Bear Grylls' awesome new show
Bear Grylls has a pretty established reputation. The former SAS serviceman has been creating tv shows based on survival and pushing human endurance levels for more than a decade, so when he hosts a new show called The World's Toughest Race, then you can be pretty sure that is what it is.
Coming to Amazon Prime Video on August 14, the 10-episode show will pit 66 teams from 30 different countries against one another as they attempt a non-stop, 11-day race covering 671km of Fiji’s toughest terrain.
Created by Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor, Grylls will host The World’s Toughest Race will follow the 66 teams of four as they attempt to make it to the finish line on time and in one piece - which by the looks of the trailer will be no mean feat.
Marking the return of a show last brought to screens in 2002, The World’s Toughest Race will be a physical test first and foremost, with each team having to master everything from stand-up paddle boarding, to sailing and rappelling. But more importantly, the contestants will have an emotional challenge on their hands, having to work together to keep morale high and survive the elements.
The trailer looks part feature film, set in the breathtaking landscape of rural Fiji, and part reality TV, with story lines so unique you couldn’t write them. In other words, it’s vintage Bear Grylls.
