Ford wants to make bird poop on your car a thing of the past
American car-maker Ford is working on a new automobile coating that will overcome particular challenges; chief among them is the corrosion caused by bird droppings.
Ford has said it is conducting a number of laboratory experiments to ensure the paint on its cars can hold up to many environmental threats. That includes extreme heat, extreme cold, and bird pool.
In a bid to combat that threat posed by birds, Ford is testing its paint with artificial droppings, that is as close to the real thing as possible. Ford has even developed several different type of bird droppings, to better simulate the poop of many different birds and their diets depending on the season.
Ford hops that this research will lead it to create a coating that is nearly indestructible. However, in the meantime it’s probably best to get your car washed at regular intervals.
