Kanye West is officially a billionaire
Kanye West is now a billionaire.
Financial Publication Forbes – who reviewed the celebrity's banking records – declared the artist-entrepreneur a billionaire proper; Kanye came in at number two spot in Forbes' 'top-earning musicians in the world' list last year, having raked in more than US$150 million from sales of his YEEZY line.
Last November, the star criticized the publication for not recognizing him as the Fast Company Innovation Festival, where he brandished a receipt for US$890 million.
When people say it's crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y'all understand exactly what it is…It will be on the license plate," he said on stage.
Last year he accused Forbes of leaving him out of the World's Billionaire list due to his race.
This time around, it appears that Forbes and West worked together to go through his financial records – they currently value him at 1.3 billion US dollars.
Most of that money appears to have come from his music and publishing rights, real estate portfolio, and YEEZY clothing line – which itself is valued at around US$1.5 billion (but is tied to Adidas).
