6th Pirates of the Caribbean film is currently being discussed
Disney is considering bringing back Pirates of the Caribbean from the murky depths says a star of the original trilogy. And the story would once again involve Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley’s characters.
According to Lee Arenberg, who played Pirate Pintel opposite Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow in the first three films of the franchise, Disney executives are “definitely talking about” a return for the franchise.
The actor spoke to Kendall Talks TV, about reprising his role as Pintel. Arenbergy said, “I love that part. But it’s not up to me, it’s something to talk about during a pandemic”.
The first film in the series set sail in 2003, inspired by the famed Disneyland attraction. The last in the franchise (there have so far been five films) Dead Men Tell No Tales, earned almost US$800 million worldwide in 2017.
Dead Men Tell No Tales left the door open for a sixth film, by including a post-credit scene that saw the return of the cursed Davy Jones (played by Bill Nighy). He was ‘defeated’ at the end of the original trilogy, suggesting that a new Priates of the Caribbean film would once again return to the lives of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.
