New video shows Dubai devoid of life
A new video has come online that shows the city of Dubai like you've never seen it before.
The video - which features drone footage of the city's (usually) busy streets - gives viewers a chance to see the city minus human life.
Footage includes Dubai's Downtown district, The Palm, DIFC and Dubai Marina, with a distinct lack of cars on the roads or people walking along the streets. The video highlights how serious the UAE is in battling the coronavirus.
The UAE announced last night another 300 cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total to 2,659. Another 53 people have recovered from the disease, bringing the total to 239.
Last night, Dr. Farida Al Hosani - the spokesperson for the UAE health sector - announced that more than 539,000 coronavirus tests have already been carried out in the country.
In her statement, Al Hosani admitted that the recovery rate for coronavirus patients around the world is currently 25 per cent. While mild cases see people recover in two or three weeks, severe cases can take significantly longer.
She also reminded UAE residents to dispose of their masks properly.
“We refuse such behavior [such as] littering masks. They may be contaminated and might contribute to the spread of coronavirus,” she said. “We need to promote good behavior. Dispose [of the masks] in trash cans.”
Currently, there have been more than 1.45 million confirmed cases of the cornavirus, including 83,400 deaths and 309,318 recoveries.
Yesterday marked day 100 since the WHO was made aware of the COVID-19 virus.
