Emaar denies claim that work halted on what will be the World's tallest building in Dubai
Emaar Properties has denied a Reuters report that claims work has been halted on what will be the World's tallest building when completed.
Reuters revealed earlier in the day that Emaar had suspended projects at Dubai Creek Harbour. That included work on the Dubai Creek Harbour Tower, which will be higher than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building.
However, Emaar chairman Mohammad Alabbar has now in a statement to Arabian Business denied those claims.
Speaking to Arabian Business, Alabbar said: “This is not even speculation or rumour, it is total lies and nonsense. And I am astonished that in this time, when the whole world is on lockdown, people can come up with this kind of thing to damage us. I won’t allow it. Let’s be clear. There is no virus on any of our sites. There are no cases of Covid-19. None of our sites have stopped operating.”
He added: “Are we operating at full capacity on every site? Well no, of course not. But you don’t need to be an award-winning investigative journalist to know that. You just need to look out the window and see that we, like most of the world, are on lockdown. Planes are not flying. Most of America is at home. Boris Johnson is in intensive care. Do you not think that would probably mean some things are slowing down?”
Developed by Emaar Properties, the exact height of The Tower is kept under wraps at the moment. It's estimated soar at around 1,300 metres, this will near dwarf the height of the Burj Khalifa which stands at around 828 metres.
It will also beat the Jeddah Tower being constructed in Saudi Arabia which aims to clock in at around 1,000 metres.
The Tower design of the stucture was inspired by an Arabian minaret, and the developers hoped it will stand as a symbol of modern Islam.
The structure's metal beams keeps it standing to evoke the image of a blossoming lily flower.
It will stand in Dubai's developing Dubai Harbour Creek, offering a prime location in terms of both retail opportunities and fantastic views. Its location will allow for never-before-seen views of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa.
