Nike’s Adapt Auto Max features ‘power laces’ and smartphone app
Nike has pulled the wraps off a brand new Air Max sneaker, with a custom-fit lacing system which electronically tightens to the shape of your foot.
The new Nike Adapt Auto Max follows on from last year’s Adapt BB concept shoe, and includes the electronic lacing system as well as a few other high-tech additions.
The shoe itself has a bigger profile than the Adapt BB, as well as a thicker midsole. The new shoe will connect to the Nike Adapt App, which gives wearers access to new features and information.
Wearers can also connect the shoes to their Apple Watch, letting you tighten or loosen them from the wrist.
For a more presonalized pair of sneakers, NIke is offering the Adapt Auto Max with the ability to customise their lace engines with one of 13 colours. Come April, there will also be light-up options.
"Nike Adapt is our pinnacle offering where performance meets connection," says Nike Global Digital Innovation Senior Director Brandon Burroughs.
"For the first time we can deliver dynamic comfort and protection to the Air Max platform, powered by a frictionless digital utility that will enable the shoe to get smarter and do more over time. In coupling Nike Adapt with our iconic Air Max platform, we're providing wearers with the future of fit and ultimate ride in one shoe."
The Nike Adapt Auto Max launches next month.
