Jeff Bezos wants laid-off workers to bolster Amazon’s workforce
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is the bearer of good news in these trying times. In a statement, he said that the company is hiring for 100,000 new roles, and has urged newly laid-off restaurant workers to apply.
According to the billionaire, there are 100,000 jobs going and one of them could be yours.
"At the same time, other businesses like restaurants and bars are being forced to shut their doors," Bezos said in a statement Saturday evening. "We hope people who've been laid off will come work with us until they're able to go back to the jobs they had."

Bezos has also said that he was raising overtime pay for associates working in its U.S. warehouses as Amazon tries to cope with the growing demand for online shopping from consumers stuck at home during the coronavirus lockdown.
