Royal wedding cancelled due to Coronavirus? Princess Beatrice cancels her wedding reception
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are adjusting plans for their upcoming summer nuptials.
Initially, the couple were scheduled to celebrate their marriage with a lavish reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, following a ceremony at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace on May 29. Buckingham Palace has since released a statement expressing concern over going forward with the ceremony in the midst of so much uncertainty surrounding coronavirus and how long it will continue to affect travel, events, and social gatherings worldwide.
"Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances. In line with government advice for the UK and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements for 29th May," read a statement from Buckingham Palace.
The announcement did not confirm whether or not Beatrice and Mozzi's marriage will be postponed until next year, or if the couple will continue with a much smaller ceremony and downsized guest list. The reception will no longer take place at the Buckingham Palace Gardens, however.

Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. by me!! “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness”
"They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people. Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place. The couple will carefully consider government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends," continued the statement.
The postponing of Beatrice and Mozzi's wedding follows a slew of cancellations of public events from the royal family due to the global pandemic.
