Spenser Confidential is Mark Wahlberg’s Netflix debut
Mark Wahlberg’s Spencer Confidential has just landed on Netflix.
It marks the first time Wahlberg has ever worked with Netflix directly, but the fifth time he has worked with director Peter Berg.
The couple’s previous films have all been a tad on the serious side (Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day, Lone Survivor) which makes Spencer Confidential the first time the duo have tried their hand at comedy.
Wahlberg has proven comedy chops, in films such as The Other Guys and Daddy’s Home (although both times, that was starring alongside funnyman Will Ferrell) but Spencer Confidential will be Berg’s first proper comedy.
The setup certainly seems funny: an ex-cop moves in with an MMA fighter, and they solve crimes together. It also stars Winston Duke (he from Us fame) and Alan Arkin.
The film’s officially out on Netflix now. Stay tuned for a full review (and until then, here’s the trailer).
