E-Sports player gets 116-year prison sentence for fraud
A pro-gamer from Brazil has just been handed a life sentence due to fraud.
The gamer – Shayene ‘shAy’ Victorio - was sentenced to 116-years behind bars after allegations were made towards an online store she helped operate between 2013 and 2017. The store sold in-game items and skins to would-be gamers, many of which did not receive their items or refunds.
Despite the sentencing, Victorio has appealed the case, stating that it was her former business parners who were to blame.
Brazil also puts a 30-year limit on prison time for its citizens.
In a statement on Victorio’s Instagram page, the gamer clarified that she had not been arrested yet – and will only be taken into custody if her appeal fails.
Last hear Victorio left the world of pro-gaming behind to focus on her life as an influencer.
