Now Khabib wants to fight Floyd Mayweather in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia really wants to see a fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Floyd Maywheater – offering up a prize purse of almost US$100 million.
That’s according to Khabib’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, who says the money is there if the fighters want to take it.
‘They want to pay $100m for Khabib to fight Floyd in Saudi Arabia,” he said. ‘It doesn’t really matter, I think more likely you can see Khabib vs Floyd.
‘All I’m thinking about now and that’s a psychopath by the name of Tony Ferguson.
Khabib is due to defend his title on April 18 against Toby Ferguson in Brooklyn.
This would be the second high-profile bout to happen in Saudi Arabia over the last 12 months. IN December, the country hosted Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz in Diriya.
However, fight fans might not want to hold their breath on the matchup taking place. Khabib has been dismissive of the fight, presumably because it would be a boxing match and not an MMA brawl.
“I have already signed a contract for my next fight in April,” Nurmagomedov said in December. “At the moment, I’m not thinking either of boxing or of Mayweather.”
“I have a very serious opponent [in Ferguson]. I need to overcome this challenge and then we will see. Boxing is his sport and he has devoted all his life to this sport. Today, he is the best in this sport with 50 wins in 50 fights.”
